Harleen Dhillon Marketing Executive - Abloy UK "In the future, I aim to have direct responsibility over the overall Marketing strategy of a Strategic Business Unit, with the opportunity to successfully manage and integrate the marketing mix to achieve profitable business growth. I want to contribute to new business development for the business and manage a department". Tell us a little bit about your journey here at ASSA ABLOY? Starting from Undergraduate to EMEA Graduate and now your Marketing role. I began working at ASSA ABLOY UK in 2013, as a Marketing Undergraduate for Abloy UK. I was the first Undergraduate for the business unit (recruitment is currently underway for the 6th!) and hence really had the ability to make the role my own, and take it in the direction I wanted to. During my placement year, I worked alongside the Marketing Manager to shape the Marketing strategy and meet the objectives, but also inject new and fresh ideas into the company. I was given full responsibility of social media; setting up the first ever pages for the company and accruing almost 3,000 followers on Twitter – as well as starting the first blog which is still running today. I was given the opportunity to work at exhibitions such as IFSEC, the MLA EXPO and SCTX – which enabled me to learn more about the industry, as well as travel and build relationships both internally and externally. I also project managed the launch of the London Showroom showcasing Abloy products, as well as Search Engine Optimisation and email marketing campaigns. Upon completion of my placement year and graduating from Aston University with a 2:1 in Business and Management, I was offered a permanent job at ASSA ABLOY and was given the opportunity to join the EMEA graduate scheme. During my graduate scheme, I completed an international secondment for three months at TESA ES in Spain, as well as completing several interesting and challenging projects, including the creation of 16 product installation videos. I have also been able to travel to Germany and Denmark for training, and spent time in London and Scotland – giving me a good overview of the similarities and differences of how a multinational organisation operates in different countries. A highlight of the graduate scheme was presenting to the Vice President EMEA ASSA ABLOY which was a unique and rewarding experience. I am currently working within the Abloy UK business unit as a Marketing Executive in a department made up of three Marketers, which has enabled me to apply the theory learned during my degree and knowledge acquired during my time at ASSA ABLOY into practice. Tell us about your current role, what are your main tasks and areas of responsibility. In my present role, I am fortunate to be responsible for and involved in a range of broad Marketing activities, including event management, marketing automation, E-commerce and pricing optimisation. I have full responsibility of the Marketing Automation system including the distribution and tracking of ESHOTs, as well as the updating and maintaining of the website and E-commerce CMS, and social media. I also deal with exhibitions and training events, new product launches, the PR programme, the digital strategy and customer enquiries. I also supervise the Marketing Undergraduate, ensuring that they are on track with all tasks and projects and providing support and assistance where needed.
