SARGENT has a great opportunity as a Supplier Quality Engineer to work closely with our supply chain partners to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.  These initiatives will include cost, quality, lead time and other key performance indicators throughout the Access and Egress Hardware Group (AEHG).


Principal Responsibilities 
  • Assess the capabilities and continuous improvement culture of the AEHG supplier base
  • Work directly with key suppliers in identifying initiatives to achieve required continuous improvement results
  • In conjunction with the Director of Supply Chain Management, set KPI targets and objectives for each of our identified key supplier partners
  • Assist suppliers in executing kaizen events and other process improvement projects to improve supplier performance
  • Provide input in developing "should cost" models for each key supplier
  • In conjunction with AEHG operations, quality and engineering personnel, work closely with suppliers to identify and improve product quality results
  • Assist Director and other Materials Management leaders in implementing Consigned Inventory or VMI programs
  • Work with Supplier partners to identify actions to reduce supplier lead time
  • Work with Director in support of efforts to achieve supplier reduction objectives 
Requirements / Education 
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering 
  • 7 years in manufacturing engineering/industrial engineering role, production management experience a plus 
  • 2+ years of experience working with suppliers 
  • Demonstrated background in Lean manufacturing tools including Standard Work, 5S, SMED, TPM and Variation Reduction/Six Sigma 
  • Quality engineering, SPC/process control, and supplier quality experience a plus 
  • Broad manufacturing process experience highly desirable in some/most of the following areas :  Metal stamping, zinc/brass casting, forging, machining, plastic injection molding, electro-plating, powder coating, component assembly, electronic component/harness assembly, PCB fabrication and assembly 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  The ability to consistently represent ASSA ABLOY in a positive and professional manner at all times. 
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex and interrelated situations affecting ASSA ABLOY and our supplier partners 
  • Demonstrated achievement and results oriented track record on key business metrics 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Experience operating in a lean manufacturing environment 
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools 
  • Highly motivated, self-starter.  Ability to multi-task and work under pressure 
  • Ability to travel approximately 25-30%, the majority will be within the United States. Internationally, travel will consist of approximately 2 weeks per year in Asia and 4 weeks per year in Mexico
